PS-M4110 Blade Array iDRAC Access problem

Dear All,

I'm facing a problem accessing the iDRAC of M4110 in M1000e chassis through both CLI and GUI. I have an M4110 Blade array with one member with

Def-Gateway: x.x.252.1.

and with 2 eths (0 and 1)

eth0:

IPAddress: x.x.252.92 NetMask: 255.255.255.0
SupportsManagement: no ManagementStatus: disabled

eth1:

IPAddress: NetMask:
IPv6Address: Description:
SupportsManagement: only ManagementStatus: enabled

and

______________________________ Group Information ______________________________
Name: my-storage Group-Ipaddress: x.x.252.93

My iDRAC network is also x.x.252.x with default gw x.x.252.1. All the blades in M1000e chassis have x.x.252.x iDRAC management IPs (same as this storage blade). But I can't access the iDRAC of my storage blade. All other blades are pinging eachother on  x.x.252.x network. while they can't ping the storage blade. All ports on the MXL switch are similarly configured.

eth1 of the member has SupportsManagement: only and ManagementStatus: enabled, but there is no IP assigned to him. Does this eth provide the access? I tried assigning it an IP from x.x.252.x netwrok but it gave me an error that it can't be on the SAN network.

What am I missing here. Please help.

Regards,

Fazal.

Hi Fazal,

You can reset the EQL (factory default) and re-configure it. It is my experience for the similar case.

Hello Everyone,

We have been head scratching about why both eth0 and eth1 of the Dell Equallogic ps-m4110 array are not available on our network. We have configured the array with no errors and both eth are up without errors but still not being able to assess the gui management page.

All the dell m620 blades can be pinged on the network including the m8024-k blade switch in both slot B1 and B2

Please any help or insight will be very much appreciated.

Thank you all in advance

Ransome

Hello,

By "reset" do you mean returned array to factory defaults and completely erased everything or you "restarted" the array.

iDrac is used to get to the serial console of the array controllers.   Not the EQL GUI.

Dedicated, "out-of-band" management is OPTIONAL.  You do not have to enable ETH1 Management port.

If you can't reach the iSCSI or Management ports that suggest you have a networking problem. Not an array problem.

 Regards,

Don
