This usually happens when you don't have enough gatekeeper (6 cylinder) devices presented to the host - especially if you also have ECC agents deployed on the same machine.
Mask in a few more gatekeepers, and it should be fine.
Unfortunately, I don't have any ECC agents loaded on this host.
As for the gatekeeper devices, I am a semi-newbie to this so I apologize for asking but I'm not sure I ever mapped any gatekeeper devices to any of my hosts...Is there a best practices option for these? What is the best way to select which ones to use? Are they already configured by default? Just mask and map them?
Gatekeeper devices are used by applications to communicate in-band with the Symmetrix. There's nothing special about them except their small size of ~3MB.
As a rule of thumb, map 3 gatekeepers to hosts which have apps using SYMAPI (eg Solutions Enabler, ResourcePack, ECC, etc). These gatekeepers should be unique to each host.
You can find them in the config by doing "symdev list -cyl" and look for 6 cylinder devices. Find some free ones not assigned to any other host, then just map & mask them.
Darrel could you please post as much as possible from the C:\program files\emc\symapi\log\symapi-YyyyMmDd.log file ?? Usually the symapi log have some usefull informations
