Help with uninstalling a program - Windows 10

Hi Folks,

I am not as familiar with Windows 10 having come from Windows 7.

I just purchased a brand new Dell G5 Gaming Desktop and would like to uninstall the McAfee Livesafe Antivirus program and install another anti virus program.

What is the safest, most comprehensive way to uninstall a program in Windows 10? Do I uninstall from Control Panel > Programs?

The PC is pristine and I don't want to mess anything up. I am wondering if it's ok to leave McAfee and just install the new anti virus program? It seems to me I would need to uninstall McAfee first.

Any help or insight is appreciated.

Sincerely, jg1234

Settings>Add and Remove Programs>Program and Features (or App and Features). The rest looks identical to Win 7.

Thanks redxps630!

Sorry for the slow response. I had heard some folks had issues uninstalling McAfee (Livesafe) from their Dell PCs so I wanted to double check.

Anything else I need to check after I uninstall McAfee to make sure it's all gone and there are no conflicts?

Cheers - jg1234

For general program uninstall use Windows App&features. For deep uninstall you can download basic free version of CCcleaner.

@jg1234   - You should follow McAfee's instructions to remove it. And use their removal tool if you have problems.

BTW: You should register your subscription at the McAfee site before uninstalling it, just in case you ever want to reinstall and use it for the remaining balance of the subscription.
