Inspiron 660, No internet

I have an Inspiron 660 (I know, kind of old) that has been working great for years. Just last night and into today, it will not connect to the Internet. We have four other computers in the house that use the same network and they're all just fine. Windows network troubleshooting finds nothing wrong, and all cables have been tested (in fact, I removed the Ethernet cable from the router to the computer altogether and relied on wireless connection, and the problem remains.). I can't figure out what could be wrong, and I would rather not totally give up on the machine (can't afford to!). Where should I look to find the culprit?

Thanks!

Have you rebooted the router?

I have rebooted not just the router, but also the modem and the Dell computer itself. As I mentioned, in suspecting that either a cable or an Ethernet port might be bad, I removed the cable and connected to the in-house network wirelessly, and there was no change in the problem. And every other device in the house that uses the network (one other desktop, two laptops, and a smart TV!) are not having any trouble at all.

I ran every diagnostic I could locate, including the full set of ePSA tests, and no flaws were turned up anywhere.

If neither Ethernet nor WiFi are working on this PC, it sounds like a software problem.

What version of Windows?

Did you install any new software or updates right before this problem started?

Is the firewall app on this PC blocking access to the network?

Have you checked other "permission" settings in Windows?

Have you scanned thoroughly for malware recently?

I have clients that swear up and down they do not have malware and yet I can prove to them that this is exactly the issue.

I use a live Linux DVD and a USB WIFI adapter.

Booting Live with hard drive physically disconnected I can boot and access the internet just fine.

Winsock Hijack Malware does this.

Drive by Downloads are very common with windows XP/VISTA/7/8/10
