S2725HS, MacBook Pro HDMI, unable to control the volume
Just bought this display, but already miffed: How can I control the audio volume on the display? When I try adjusting the volume using the physical toggle button on the back of the monitor, it barely registers the change, either making it super loud or almost inaudible.
The monitor is connected to my MacBook Pro through HDMI, but in the Mac sound settings, the volume slider is unavailable and grayed out.
Someone said you can't control the volume via HDMI connection and that you'd need a splitter to use the monitor's built-in speakers. I've never encountered this issue. My TV's soundbar is directly connected to the HDMI port, and the audio quality is excellent.
Can anyone help me with the issue I'm facing?

The online S2725HS Drivers & Downloads page shows that only Windows 10/11 are supported by Dell. There is no mention of Apple OS under "Operating system".
This same complaint of no audio control via MacBook Pro 16 macOS Sequoia 15 HDMI out port is seen on the Apple Forum. Also on Reddit.
We do not have this issue using a Windows OS computer. The HDMI out port delivers both video and audio into the S2725HS HDMI in port. The S2725HS integrated speakers then receive that signal.
The Windows OS taskbar then has a speaker icon showing S2725HS HDMI. The Sound settings then offer us a choice of "Sound Output = S2725HS HDMI".
