100% Disk Usage - New Computer

Hi everyone,

I bought my Inspiron 14 3000 a couple of weeks ago, and in the few uses I've had, I noticed it to be a bit slow in fairly simple tasks (and noisy, but it could be just me), specially considering it was brand new.

Checking the Task Manager, I realized that just by turning on the computer, Disk Usage goes straight to 100% and stays there. The most demanding tasks vary, but usually are (excuse me if I don't write them down correctly, my computer is in Spanish): 'System', 'Microsoft Store', McAfee Management Service, wsappx and Microsoft Compatibility Telemetry.

What can be done? I've read a few topics but they seem older, so I'd though about asking it here.

Thanks!

I have the same problem with three different Dells.

I got the same problem. Spend many hours troubleshooting this issue. Finally solved my issue by disabling System Protection.  https://www.repairwin.com/fix-srtasks-exe-high-disk-usage/.

As my Hard Disk (Toshiba DT01ACA100 as shown in task manager) is not SSD and it seems to be very slow. That cause following process keep 100% of disk reading:  srtasks.exe

You guys ever heard of an SSD right, No? Well you can get them pretty cheap now everywhere and that should fix your issues with 100% usage. Let me explain.

A Harddrive uses a spindle to get the data needed for that specific task. It is basically being used as the primary drive which puts alot of work on it since its constantly spinning to get that data but with an SSD you take the Load off the HDD and it makes the computer snappier too! I recommend getting 128Gb or maybe 1TB and it doesen't matter what kind of Drive you have because as long as it has an SSD then you're good.
