12C HID Device not working
Inspiron 5406 2-in-1
My laptop touchpad has not worked for several months now. I've sent it to be repaired about four times. In device manager, the 12C HID Device cannot start. It says "A request for the HID descriptor failed." I have tried uninstalling the driver and restarting my pc. I've tried troubleshooting. I've tried installing every support assist app under the sun. I've tried pretty much everything you can think of, and it still won't work.
I have a Dell Inspiron 5406 2-in-1. On the dell website, it doesn't show up in the list of versions, so I couldn't access the device driver. When I tried to search up 'touchpad drivers' in the site, it said that Microsoft automatically updates the driver, and didn't allow me to access the downloads. I don't know what else to do, and I'm tired of things not working.

Were you able to figure out the issue? I am seeing the same problem with my inspiron 14 2-in1 device as well.

Problem Solved -
Just go to BIOS...go to power management.. enable anything like "block sleep" (or "prevent sleep")...that should do.

I searched for a solution to this topic for a long time, and I finally found it in this video. Although the issue is quite old, I believe it will still be helpful for those who come across it through Google. Hopefully, this video saves you time and provides the answer you're looking for!
