1564 BIOS update
Inspiron 1564 is having some issues when power is removed. I have no battery and after power is reapplied it may take half an hour to a day before pressing the power button will turn it on. After it's booted up it runs like a champ.
In case it's caused by some BIOS corruption I want to update the BIOS to latest A13. It's at A01 now.
I downloaded FLASHME_v103_Win_1194_4M_1564A13.exe. But when I run it, the program complains about the missing battery. I found out it can be forced to run in a Command prompt by adding the parameter /forceit. The program goes through its paces, reboots but when I check, it is still at version A01. I didn't see any errors but the screen blinks off so fast at reboot I may have missed it. Does anyone know if there is a log file and where it is stored?
Next I downloaded 1564A13_win.exe, the website says it is for update from a DOS bootable USB drive. When I boot the laptop from the flash drive and run the application, it complains that it cannot run in DOS. I tried running FLASHME_v103_Win_1194_4M_1564A13.exe from the flash drive it complains it can't run in DOS also.
This it the page I downloaded the files from: https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=r301036
Am I doing something wrong? Any suggestion would be appreciated.
