Bad blocks preventing backups?
I have a 5 year old Inspiron 7348 with a 500GB hard drive. I can run backup of files and folders using 2021 Acronis True Image from this hd, but attempted backups of the entire disk or partition fail. Acronis support attributes these failures to "bad blocks" that show up in Error Messages in the System Events log. Running chkdsk/f at least twice hasn't resolved the problem. Also ran sfc/scannow with no problems found.
Would appreciate suggestions on how to determine if this is a hard drive issue or a backup software issue?
Thanks.

Run an extended diagnostic on the drive -- F12 at powerup (let the quick tests run, and then run the surface scan of the drive). If it shows bad sectors, a run of chkdsk /f (see below) will attempt to relocate the data to good sectors, but note that the drive must be replaced soon.
