Battery not charging

My Dell Inspiron 5577 is not charging when I attach my charger into the laptop. This is the same charger that came with the laptop. A dialog box appears which states "The AC power adapter is not recognized. System performance will be impacted. Please connect the correct Dell AC power adapter for best system operation". I tried using a different dell charger and it didn't work, and I have even tried replacing the charging jack but the same dialog appears when inputting the charger. The laptop does charge after many repeated attempts (out of 30 attempts it works maybe once), so I don't believe something is broken, but rather the laptop/driver is unable to recognize the charger for some reason. Any advice on what I should try/do next?

How old is the battery? Batteries can fail after one to two years or more and must be replaced. They are warrantied for the first year so contact support if you are still under the one year warranty. Adapters can also fail but usually it is the battery. Remove the battery and try the adapter alone. If that works replace the battery or use it without a battery to save the expense. You need a genuine Dell replacement battery.

I don't think the battery is broken because it does start charging after I try putting in the charger about 30 times, and my laptop remains on even if not connected to the charger.

I suggest you update the BIOS system or power driver. My friend's laptop is HP. There is a problem that it can't be charged. He uninstalled HP Quick Launch, I wonder if this will help you.
