I didn't purchase the battery. The owner gave it to me and no it's not a genuine Dell

Follow the troubleshooting guide which presupposes that you have a genuine Dell battery.

.In all likelihood you will have to use with AC adapter or buy a new genuine Dell battery.

OK Then how come the original OEM battery does the same thing. I thought it was the battery that's why I replaced it.

Dell battery is bad and replacing it with a non-Dell battery won't work.

 " starts flashing orange "

----------------------

Flashing orange usually indicate either bad battery, power supply or motherboard. What exactly is your Dell model number for the computer? Example: Dell Inspiron 3543. If you don't know, type msinfo32 onto the [Cortana] search box, stroll down to System Model, you should see it now.

In the meantime, run Dell diagnostic to check the hardware within the system You could do this by following he steps below.

1. Power off system

2. Power on system, quickly start tapping F12 key continuously until you see Preparing One Time Boot menu in top right corner of screen. In Dell Preboot menu, select Diagnostic. Report back any error code.

Please download / install the Quickset Application onto the computer, and then reboot. After, look for a battery icon at the bottom of taskbar, if there's one, right click on it. You should see a battery meter app.

Also, check in Device Manager to see if there's a battery driver (Microsoft ACPI-Compliant control method battery) listed. Type Device Manager onto [Cortana] search box, expand Batteries (if listed).

@LSUFAN51   He has a non-Dell battery. I don't know if you saw that.

Error Code: 2000-0131 means battery is not installed. Please remove battery again. Press Power On button for about 20 seconds to release Static Flea Power. Check for debris, dust or damaged contacts and then replace the battery.

Ensure  battery is installed correctly. Hopefully battery is detected in the BIOS or the Battery Meter application.
