Battery Settings cannot be detected [Dell Power Manager Lite]
Hi,
I have purchased a new battery for my dell inspiron 5559 Laptop.
As you can see it's recognised as a Dell Battery from "DELL POWER MANAGER LITE".
A screenshot of the application is attached (It shows it in Hebrew so I translated)
But the problem is that there is no "battery settings" available now, it shows it as:
"UNKNOWN - The battery setting could not be detected".
As I said, it seems that everything is ok:
In the BIOS it shows "Excellent" condition and 65W.
In the app screen you can see that it's a DELL battery.
I also tried it without the AC plugged, still the same.
On the previous battery I could get into this "Battery Settings" section and select one of 4 profiles that were there.
So why is that? What can I do to solve this?
Thanks.

I'm assuming computer operate on battery power along or without the AC adapter.......
Please uninstall Dell Power Manager Lite and then reinstall it. Dell Power Manager Lite should be listed as Dell Quickset Application.
To reinstall; click on your Dell model number (or enter service tag number) in the link below.
Drivers & Downloads | Dell US
Afterward, download / install the latest Quickset application from your Dell Product Support page

I didn't know how to uninstall, but reinstall it from dell utils didn't help and it still the same.
By the way, the version also remain the same, so probably I have already had the last version.
Is there any other solution or why could be the reason for that?
Thanks.

@LSUFAN51

In addition, I replaced back to the old batter and now also with this battery I get "Unknown" regarding the "Battery Settings" section. It's seems kind of bug or something with the application.
Even I uninstalled it again and install.

I like to apologize for asking this question again;
Does the computer boot into windows without the AC adapter connected to it? If yes, remove the new battery from computer by following steps below:
1. Power off computer. Remove AC adapter, battery
2. Press and hold the power button of your computer for about 15 seconds to drain the residual power
3. Replace battery, power on computer and then boot into the BIOS
4. Please verify if the battery is charging and the charge percentage has increased.
In your first post, the image for new battery percentage is 79% in the BIOS
Let see if battery's charge is increasing to about 90 - 100%

I don't have any problem with the charging.
The new battery used until it reached to 10% and charging to 100% without any problem.
I just talked about the "Battery Settings" in the application that shows "unknown".
But I will follow your steps and update if there is any change.
Thanks.

If this is a third-party/non-Dell replacement battery, it lacks the circuit necessary to communicate with the Dell power manager. The only real solution is an OEM battery.

So how do you explain that the same bettery previously showed the "Battery Settings" and now it doesn't show that? (I'm talking about the old battery now, not the new one, you can see it by the SN/PPID)
And they both should be an original Dell battery (As I hope so).
I can picture it if you know how to verify it by the picture.

It's not possible to tell from your photos whether this is a Dell battery or not. One thing you might try:
Unplug the system.
Remove the battery (or if it's internal, remove the base cover and disconnect it from the system board).
Hold the power button for 30 sec.
Reconnect the battery and check again.

Any updates? You remove battery, press and hold the Power On button of your computer for about 30 seconds to drain the residual power ? If yes, the Dell Power Manager Lite application still doesn't detect Battery Settings ?

Hi, @LSUFAN51
@ejn63
No, it didn't help, still the same.
I removed the AC and the battery, pressed the power button for ~30 seconds, plugged the battery, startup the laptop only by the battery plugged, opening the "Dell Power Manager Lite" and "Battery Settings" still shows "unknown".
This is weird because before using the new battery, this old battery did show the "Battery Settings" options, but since plugging the new one and back to the old one, it shows it as "unknown".

Note: Install the Dell Power Manager Lite before the below steps
Go to Device Manager,
Uninstall "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery"
Shutdown the PC and Boot into BIOS using the F2 key
Check the Battery Information (Battery status and AC Adapter Watt rating)
Then Navigate to "Power Management", There you can see battery settings choose "Primarily AC use" and click "Apply".And then boot to Windows.
You can see the Battery Settings in Dell Power Manager Lite.
This Worked for me. Let me know your status
