Replacement batteries are hard to find and must come from Dell or trusted Dell Parts. Today's laptops work on just the adapter alone if you don't need the mobility. That's what you are using now and it should work even with battery removed.

Batteries do not last long nowadays. Thinner lighter laptops require diff battery designs. See Dell info about batteries: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000175212/dell-laptop-battery-frequently-asked-questions
