Hello -

Can you tell me what I need to do using a flash drive?

Under Tools in Reflect, choose "make recovery media".  You'll need a blank flash drive (it doesn't need to be large -- even a 1 or 2 gig drive will do fine).

Since this system does not support legacy boot, it's much easier to use a flash drive that's fully UEFI compliant to boot the system.

You say to use a blank flash drive.  I have an existing flash drive with data on it.

Can I reformat and use it?

Yes, though it's a good idea to keep the flash drive dedicated to this purpose  thereafter.  At a minimum, keep an ISO of the bootable flash drive on a separate backup that you can write to a flash drive when needed (in fact it's a good idea to keep an ISO of the boot image anyway, as a redundant means of making a bootable drive in case the primary one is lost, damaged, etc.).

Macrium Reflect can write the recovery image to an ISO file.

Thanks again for the return.  I’m trying to follow your instructions.  What I have done is go to Macrium Reflect and selected Create New ISO File, which I did. 

It was saved under C:\Macrium Rescue.iso.  (I’m not familiar working with iso files)

I can’t seem to find that file, and if I could, what do I do next?  Can my PC boot from the iso file to recover an image?

Anyway, I am on my way to Best Buy to purchase flash drives.  I will check back to see if I have heard from you.

You can use Reflect to create the rescue media directly or you can use an ISO writer to transfer the image to the flash drive (you cannot simply copy it - the result will not be bootable).

Sorry for the delay.

I tried to download Macrium Rescue to a Flash Drive and got error message 0xc0000142.  So need to fix that before I proceed.
