Can't adjust brightness Dell G15 5515 Ryzen Edition

Dell G15 5515 Ryzen Edition

Dell G15 5515 Ryzen Edition

When I update my Nvidia graphic driver to version newer then 522.25 (Game ready driver), my brightness adjustment stops working. Functional keys are working, brightness settings are fine, but changing brightness does nothing.

Downgrading solves this problem, but what I need to do, if I want to stay up-to-date?

The simple solution is not to use that driver.

Nvidia's Game Ready Drivers are sort of like beta. They are more of an edge release, with the latest patches for current games. Nividia's Studio Drivers are slightly less current, more tested and more stable.

I'm sure Nvidia will get it sorted out at some point.

Unfortunately, Studio drivers are the same. I can't adjust brightness with them too.

  • For Windows 10
    1. Press and hold the Windows (

) key, and then press the q key.
    2. In the Search box type, settings.
    3. In the search results list, touch, or click Settings (App).
    4. Touch or click System.
    5. On the Display screen, find the Adjust my screen brightness automatically option.

Note:  Some notebooks do not support this feature, and the option is not available. You can manually adjust the brightness using the slider bar under   Change brightness for the built-in display, after making any desired changes, close the  System  window.
    6. Touch or click the slider to toggle the option on or off.
    7. Touch or click Apply.
    8. Close the System window.

Thanks for your answer, but I don't have an Adjust my screen brightness automatically option. Adjusting brightness using slider bar does nothing.изображение_2022-12-22_153459782.png

The simple solution is not to use those drivers. Stay with an earlier release that works for you. I'm sure Nvidia will fix it at some point. You could report the issue to Nvidia via their custhelp site, and/or report it in their forum.

Nope, I can't figure out what to do, except downgrading drivers

After waiting what seemed like an eternity, the newest BIOS update appears to have resolved this issue for me. I updated the system BIOS and then updated to the newest Nvidia drivers and I can still control the brightness. I am finally free of ancient drivers.
