certified/tested for Windows 11?

I have two Inspiron laptops, one model 3583 and one model 3511.  The 3511 is the more recent purchase.  Both are running Windows 10, and I'm looking at taking the free upgrade to Windows 11.  The listing of "Dell computers tested for upgrade to Windows 11"

lists the 3583 but not the 3511.  Both passed the 'PC Health Check'.  So what am I to make of the fact that the 3511 is not listed as tested/approved?

Both are validated by Dell with Windows 11. The article just has not been updated.

The Inspiron 15 3583 drivers page  shows Windows 10/10S/11.

The Inspiron 15 3511 drivers page shows Windows 10/10S/11/11S.

I would agree with you but this is a page from the Times of India web site and notice that the 3511 there does indeed come with Windows 11 pre-installed.

The 3511 most definitely came with Win 10 installed.  FWIW,  I just checked to see what edition, and it is Windows 10 Home.  The 3583 is running Windows 10 Pro.  Though I guess if later builds of th 3511 have Win 11 factory installed, that would be de facto evidence that it is good to go on the upgrade. Since mine came with Win 10 I'd have had no reason to suspect/know that later models came with Win 11.

You are missing an important point. That is the list for computers tested for upgrade to Windows 11, which would be the 3583 for example. The 3511 comes natively with Windows 11 pre-installed and the Windows 11 drivers for the 3511 are located here. And yes Windows 10 drivers are also located there so I assume the 3511 came with Windows 10 initially but later builds had Windows 11.

So the 3511 is approved obviously and will be supported by Dell tech support.

I don't get your point. Yes, it is now coming with 11 pre-installed, but as already stated, it didn't when I bought mine. So I'm just trying to get some assurance that it will upgrade with no issues. I remember reading when Win 11 was first released (or was it in beta?) that there were certain models of computers for which the upgrade was, um, shall we say "not successful". That's why I'm looking for authoritative confirmation that mine is good to go.

If PC Health Check confirms that your system is compatible, and Dell has the proper Windows 11 drivers on the support page for the 3511 then you should have no problems. My point with Windows 11 pre-installed is that it would offer proof that the system is compatible with Windows 11 or Dell would not offer the 3511 with Windows 11 installed. Sorry if I was not clear about that point.

I guess at this point a moderator is what you need to give you authoritative proof. I will leave further replies for the moderator to confirm and answer your question.
