Corrupt BIOS
I am helping a neighbor with his OLD Inspiron N5010 laptop (c. 2011). His HDD was on its last legs, so we inserted a new (used), freshly formated HDD and used Media Creation Tool to install Windows 10 22H2. All went well, we signed him into his account and started getting Updates for software and drivers. I went to the Dell website and downloaded 5 additional drivers that Support Assist found. One was a BIOS update. The BIOS update started and 30 minutes later there was only a black screen. Oooops! And, now the computer does not complete POST. A single diagnostic beep repeats after powering on.
I researched all the information at Dell.com on resetting the BIOS...holding down special keys, waiting for this and that...nothing works.
Help! Is there any way to save the fine old computer?
