CPU Temp 100°C but very strange

Hello,

I'm having a problem and I'd like to know if you also have this problem or if there's a way to solve it.

Context:

The computer is very well ventilated, I've already dusted it, I've already changed the thermal paste and it's located in a room with air conditioning.

When I'm not using it, the CPU temperature is 30°C.
But the problem is that as soon as I open, for example, a folder, or the Windows settings, or Microsoft Edge, the temperature rises to 100°C in 1 second and 2 seconds later drops back to 30-35°C .
I know that by deactivating Turbo Boost I no longer have this problem. But I'd like to keep the turbo boost.
Right now the CPU is at 100°C. But as soon as I take a break to think about what to write, the CPU drops to 50°C, and as soon as I press a key on my keyboard, the CPU goes to 100°C.

Thanks for your help,

@SrisriCactus

I wouldn't worry too much about it, especially seeing that you've cleaned the intakes and replaced the thermal paste. As long as the fan doesn't constantly sound like an airplane getting ready to take off (full throttle) while idle, everything should be fine.

What doesn't sound normal is your last sentence stating that the temperature jumps to 100 degrees C when you start typing. This could be something Edge related, like an installed add-on. Try running Edge in safe mode and see if the condition changes. Also check the power pop-up on the taskbar and make sure that the slider is set in the middle (better performance) as best performance will essentially keep Turbo Boost constantly active. Also, check the power section under the My Dell app, or in the BIOS setup if it isn't installed, and make sure that the thermal setting is set to optimized.

Thank you very much for your answer.

I have test with Chrome and Edge and I was having the same problem BUT

I don't know how, but now the temperature is not reaching 100°C again why i'm writing, I'm at max 65°C and that is fine. But I don't understand this changement because I do nothing...

And thermal setting was already set in Optimized and test whitout extension and same result.

PS : Ok just when I write the word "optimized", I got a spikes from 45°C to 100°C in 0,5 sec. But how it"s possible the temperature can rise this fast ? It's possible that the sensor is not working properly ?

Modern CPUs thermally throttle so as not to damage themselves if they get too hot.

The CPU is good up to 100 deg C before it'll thermally throttle, slowdown, and potentially turn itself off.

Laptops tend to run hot, but that's too hot. Difficult to known if that's typical for the model you have... I'd hit Dell up as its not suitable for purpose as is.
