Could it be that this dock has a custom firmware flashed to it?

This could explain why the official dell firmware upgrade does not recognize it, also other devices such as USB thumb drives, external HDD, even other USB hubs plugged in are detected, but not the keyboard/mouse.

Thinking a company might have done this to increase security.

Yes, i bought another one and it didn't have this problem.

I think what's going on is some D6000 have a custom firmware used by some companies for extra security compliance. In this case the compliance comes from the fact that you can't add external mouse/keyboard, like a rubber ducky attack.

Because it's custom firmware, the regular Dell flash software does not recognize it. Obviously Dell is not helping at all with this...

Hello,

I am exactly in the same situation, bought the docking used from a french user on ebay and everything works except USB.

If I try to flash the firmware (with all versions from V0 to V4) the device is not recognised and the update does not start.

I guess there is indeed a custom firmware in it. My question is: how they managed to install a custom firmware there? Which utility might have been used?

Why DELL is not supporting at all on this issue? It seems that many of these docks will be thrown in the trash bin for a stupid firmware issue which is not very nice for the environment....

Almost 2 years later and now I'm struggling with this issue. The docking has been in use for years and all of a sudden the USB ports have stopped working. So no alternative firmware or anything.

I've tried to delete the USB devices related to the docking in Device Manager of my Win11 computer, but to without success.

In this case I'm going to assume it's hardware malfunction, but still it's weird.
