Dell G15 5520 External Monitor with Hybrid Graphics OFF is driven by iGPU

Hello! I have a G15 5520 with the RTX 3060 and an i7 12700h. I had recently bought an external monitor that is capable of G-sync. I have connected the monitor through the USB-C port in the back panel.

When the monitor is connected, in the Windows Advanced Display Settings it is shown that the graphics card that drives the external monitor is the iGPU and not the RTX 3060.

I then tried going into the BIOS and disabling the Hybrid Graphics options so i can deactivate the iGPU and use exclusively the RTX 3060.

When I saved the BIOS settings and booted the PC up again it still shows that the external monitor is driven by the iGPU.

What is strange is that when Im trying to run a game, the game is running normaly and displayed in the external monitor, there is no FPS loss which indicates that the RTX 3060 is in use.

What is even stranger is that when I go into the Nvidia Control Panel to set up G-sync, the monitor doesn't appear, meaning that theoretically the monitor is driven by the iGPU, even though games run just fine. All these leads me to not being able to use the G-sync feature, which is a pity because I bought this monitor thinking that I was going to take advantage of this feature.

I would like to know, does disabling the Hybrid Graphics really deactivate the iGPU? Wouldn't that mean that the monitor should be driven only and directly by the RTX 3060? Or is there a passthrough thats happening from the RTX 3060, through the iGPU and then reaching the external monitor?

If indeed that's the case, did anyone had any problems connecting a VR Headset ( specifically Oculus )  to the USB-C port? Because I would imagine that the VR Headset accompanying program wouldn't recognize that the port is actually driven by the RTX 3060 through the iGPU, but it would register the iGPU only as an input.

I bought this laptop thinking that I would be able to use a VR Headset with it in the future, and the reviews that I had seen said that when the Hybrid Graphics are disabled the USB-C port is driven by the RTX 3060.

For the record, I have tried reinstalling all relevant drivers, and I have updated the BIOS to the latest version. The problem still persists.

Thank you in advance for the help!

The system is hardwired between the Intel GPU and the USB-C/Thunderbolt port -- you need a notebook with a true, discrete GPU (which this one does not have).

Hi, I also have a Dell G15 5220 with a Samsung Odyssey G7 connected via USB-C and get the same thing. The OS reports it's using the Intel Iris, but games run fine at High-Res leading me to believe it's using the RTX 3060. Either that or the Iris is as good as the RTX! Either way it's a lot more stable running via USB-C than it was using HDMI.
