Dell G3 3590 port does not accept power when using Dell Dock
I have a brand new Dell G3 3590 and DELL Docking station. When I plug in the docking station into the Type C port upon boot I receive a POST error. "Warning your port does not accept power. To supply power to your system while docked attach a power adapter to your system." I also have the power supply that came with my laptop plugged into the laptop power port. Still the same issue. There is no issue when the docking station is not plugged in and the docking station works with my DELL work laptop (also brand new).
I'm especially troubled because after providing all kinds of information to a DELL Support person I am told this configuration has not been tested and that they will not be able to comment any further? What the heck is that? Is that the extent of warranty support? I asked to escalate and have not heard back. This is not good. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Apparently your notebooks USB-C port does not have the PD or Display Port technology. you can verify this. USB-C is only a connector type many different technologies can be supplied or not just depends on what Dell supplied The Range is from USB 2.0 through USB 3.1 Gen 2 , PD and TB 3, Video ports.
To get this information you need to log on to support, enter your model number and most importantly Enter your Service Tag Number.
That will open all the hardware information on your Particular notebook, The Specification complete list will be available there you should look to see exactly what all your ports supply or accept. For your Exact notebook.
You should download and read your Service Manual there you will find out how to open your notebook etc.

@codawson looking at the specs of the G3 3590, its USB-C port is noted as supporting DisplayPort Alt Mode (video output) when equipped with the GeForce GTX 1650 or better, but there's no mention of supporting USB PD support. Both of those capabilities are optional on USB-C ports, not mandatory. And actually even if USB PD support had been mentioned, since USB PD can operate for power flowing in either direction, even that doesn't necessarily mean that system charging is supported -- some systems support USB PD only in one direction -- so that capability is often specifically called out specifically on systems where it's supported. The G3 3590 also uses a 130W AC adapter, which is above the 100W max of the official USB PD spec anyway. Dell does have some systems and docks that can receive/provide 130W over USB-C, so they apparently did something proprietary to stretch that spec, but it appears they haven't implemented that on all of their systems that use 130W power sources. And even among the docks that support it, you need to make sure you have an appropriately sized power supply. Some dock models are available with different power supplies based on how much power you need them to be able to pass through to the attached system. On that subject, it doesn't really matter in this specific case, but as a general note, when asking about technical issues like this, it helps to provide technical information. In this case, the specific Dell dock you're using might have been important information, as well as the model of your Dell work laptop that works. Again, doesn't make a difference in this case since the simple answer is that your system doesn't support charging over USB-C, but just fyi.

I'm having the same message using a G3 and a dock WD19
I charge my computer using it's power adaptor (130W) and the dock is connected to its own power adaptor (180W) I want to keep connected the Dock, and Im not trying to charge the computer using the Dock or the USB-C Port.
I just want to know if theres any way to remove that error message every time that i restart my computer.
thanks

@Oasisantonio Right now Dell doesn’t seem to offer a way to disable this warning. Hopefully that arrives in a firmware update at some point.

Hi, I am looking for information on whether the external USB ports HDMI and LAN built into the dock work when the docking station is connected to the Dell G3 3590??

I have been having exactly the same problem. It is disappointing that the G# will not charge via the USB-C port. I will likely return it since it is brand new.

I have this same issue with an XPS 9700 and the WD19TB, I have a EGPU with a Nvidia 3090 card. Every time i turn on the laptop I have to accept the error and then unplug the EGPU to the laptop once or twice then wait for it to see my external monitor then switch it my only display.

i just found a solution,
if you get error message you can have bios continue to boot to windows
open bios > pre-boot Behavior ( in warning and errors select option "Continue on warnings and errors"

@zakghretlli , I was hopeful. Doesn't work for me on G5 5500. Still hangs every time I boot until I remember to hit enter.
Super irritating, especially during system updates, where it just sits and waits for me to hit enter. The system also gets really hot if I forget, which makes me worry it's going to damage something.
