Dell G5 15 5587 headset/microphone problem

I have steel series arctis 3 gaming headset. My headset was working properly once but then, somehow, my mic started to not to work. I started using the built-in microphone of my dell laptop. I was worried it was cuased because of my headset and tried it on another computer( samsung win8 ) and it worked just fine. Then I searched the whole internet( literally) hoping I can fix it by using some software. I tried couple of realtek audio drivers. But nothing changed. After that, I have downloaded the drivers and MaxxAudioPro for my specific product.(from here).

Something happened and when I plugged in my headset maxxaudiopro asked me about which device I plugged in. And I chose the right one. For most of the users having this issue, the problem is solved here. But nothing changed on my computer. Besides, now I can't use my built-in microphone(LOL). I am really confused and start to think it's a hardware related problem. Waiting for your solutions...

Well something magic happened. I did the same process. Delete the old driver and reinstall the 6.0.1.8642 version driver then reboot. After that I plugged in my headset and select headset on maxxaudiopro pop-up. And it worked. I did the same process before but this time worked. I have no idea why.

Hey bud  i had the same issue with my laptop  Dell were useless and were 0 help wanted me to format my pc ... not happening,  well  turns out the issues is super to fix

1. Open  start bar and  look for  "Realtek Audio Console"

2. At the bottom left of the console you see a button called "Device advance settings"   click it.

3. Once in there  you will see "Enable jack detection when device is plugged in"  by default it is on.. turn it off

4. then you will see another  setting  "connector Retasking"   Select "Headset (with microphone)"

and you are done.  just reboot your PC and all should be good.

This it what worked for me on a Dell G5 15 5515,

1. Adjust Realtek Audio Console Settings

One effective solution, particularly highlighted in a Dell community forum thread for a similar model (Dell G5 15 5587), involves configuring the Realtek Audio Console. The steps are as follows:

  • Open the "Realtek Audio Console" application, which is typically pre-installed or available through Dell's driver updates.
  • Navigate to "Device advanced settings."
  • Disable the option "Enable jack detection when device is plugged in." This prevents the system from misinterpreting the headset connection.
  • Set "Connector Retasking" to "Headset (with microphone)" to ensure the audio jack is configured for both audio and microphone use.
  • Save the changes and reboot the laptop to apply the settings.
