Dell G5 15 5590 keyboard backlight suddenly stopped working

I also checked the Keyboard Illumination setting on the BIOS and it is ticked on bright, but still no light on my keyboard. I have restarted my laptop more times than I can count. Updated my firmware, downloaded and installed the latest windows 10 updates, but still no luck. I have already checked the updated drivers on the dell support website, specifically the BIOS, it is on latest. I have already checked the updated drivers on the dell support website, specifically the BIOS, it is on latest which is 1.16.0. But when I check it on SupportAssisst, it says that I have a critical update for Dell G5 5590 and G7 7590/7790 System BIOS version 1.17.1. When I try to update to 1.17.1, it fails. I feel helpless, this is a huge inconvenience for me. See the pictures below for more info.

Does the light come on briefly when you power up the system?  If it does not, and you have it enabled in setup, something is physically wrong (it has failed or become disconnected from the system board).

I checked the BIOS, it was enabled, there are 3 options: Disabled, Dim, and Bright. I have the Bright selected but still no luck.

For my laptop, the illumination key is in F10. My F10 key still works, but it just does not light up the keyboard, if that is the case, I don't think that my F10 key is the problem. Do you think is it possible for my keyboard to not light up when I press F10 but the F10 function itself still works? Or maybe this is a software/firmware side problem?

The LED indicator on my Caps Lock key still works, so I really don't think something is wrong with the physical components of my laptop, specifically its keyboard.

I'm having the same issue. I ended up rolling back the Dell BIOS to the previous version I was on, and the backlight worked again. Seems to be a software bug.

I had similar issue with G5 5500 posted on below link. In my case rolling back didn't help as it forces me back to the latest buggy version.
