Dell Inspiron 15 7568 touchscreen not working

Hello,

This is Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series 7568 fully convertible (2in1) touchscreen laptop which I purchased from BestBuy during mid-June 2016.  To get rid of touchpad issues (cursor jumping erroneously), I disabled touchscreen functionality few months back.  I went into Settings and disabled something which I don't remember exactly.  Now I am trying to revert back to touchscreen mode, I tried all options but no luck.  I even restored my PC back to original factory settings, still touchscreen is not working.

Could someone please suggest what could have gone wrong?

Thanks.

Hi upset2018

Type device manager onto [Cortana] search box, stroll down to Human Interface Devices and expand it. Right click touch screen driver, select Properties, Driver and check if Roll Back Driver option is greyed out. If option isn't greyed out, I suggest clicking on it to go back to an previously installed touch screen driver.

If the Roll Back Driver option is greyed out:

The windows update (KB4074588)  might be causing touchscreen problem. Please read the article thoroughly in link below and then try the troubleshooting steps to fix it. Keep in mind, the touch screen is nothing more than a USB device. Also, the touch screen driver is in the windows updates.

Note: By the way, Dell and Microsoft are working on having KB4074588 pulled from Windows Updates

Hi edo....

I'd suggest using the System Restore tool on the system. The tool will go back to an earlier time before the touch screen stop working.

How To Use System Restore (Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, XP)

System Restore does not affect any of your documents, pictures, or any other personal data. Recently installed drivers and programs might be uninstalled

Also,

Check update history for windows update (KB4074588)  that might be causing touchscreen problem, see article I've posted above). Please click on link below to find Update History in the settings.

I tried from disconnect the wire of the touchscreen until to reinstall the Windows 8.1 and 10 but it still doesn't working.

It's possible that touchscreen have a failure and how I can check it?

Hi,

Did you manage to fix this? I have a similar issue where the touch screen goes crazy making ghost touches at a million times a second, where I have had to resort to disabling the touch screen driver.

@jinftang

Please clean the screen by following steps in link below:

Hopefully this will help.
