Dell Service tag db wrong!

Unbelievable! Inherited an out of warranty laptop. Tried to look it up on dell. Dell claims it is a 17 inch AMD. Actually a 15 inch Intel. Call dell support bangladesh who first claims someone upgraded it. I pointed out how ridiculous it is to suggest someone got a 17 inch screen in a 15 inch laptop and WHY downgrade to 15? Then she suggests I contact local store and request an order number? Is she for real? Dell no longer has that info but a store will? And give it to a customer? After long holds and thick accent... REFUSED to help unless I provide that info! And an email with her name and 2 numbers? What happened to dell?

Probably a refurbished model with a diff motherboard and parts--not necessarily upgraded. No need to know the service tag. There's no warranty left so it's nothing to worry about. Use the model name and number to get drivers or parts.

Already got that response from bangladesh. 1. So you suggest they replaced case for a smaller one, moved the tag. 2. Programmed the intel bios with a service tag from a busted amd bios? As I stated 15in lcd is not interchangeable with a 17inch. If that much id replaced is it a refurb? And should not the db or someone have record of it? And sell it as new? My question remains...what has become of dell?
