Equal/Plus key problem
Problem with plus/equal key will only enter the sign on my Dell Inspiron 5570 Laptop
Have run sfc /scannow & the Dism diagnostics software which didn't fine any problems.
Also ran Dell diagnostics which found no problems.
I have tried a virtual keyboard & external USB keyboard with the same result.
I have this same problem on my old Inspiron 5547 laptop but not on XPS 8930 desktop.
Any ideas how to correct this problem its annoying.
Is this a software problem and not a hardware problem?

Sorry for asking this--Are you pressing the Shift key for + and not pressing it for the = sign?
Is the shift key working? It could be stuck. Try typing letters. Is everything in caps?

The "shift" key is working properly caps & other keys that require the shift key also function okay only =/+ key appears to be the problem.
The "shift" key status makes no difference "plus" sign always shows up.
I found out accidently that if Caps Lock key is used the = sign shows up.
