Question

I'm trying to set up my e-mail in my new device inspiron 2x1. An error code is shown: 0x80070490 Does anyone know what it means?

And useless Dell Support could not figure it out so they set me to their paid software support - which if they are as good as the techs I already spent three hours on the phone with, would also be completely useless.

So I am thinking about returning the laptop because I can not set up any email on it.

If you receive Windows Update error 80070490, it means that a file (CBS Manifest) that's needed to install updates is corrupt.

The System Update Readiness Tool for Windows can correct some conditions that cause Windows Update error 80070490. To learn more about this tool, go to What is the System Update Readiness Tool? on the Windows website.
