F12 Key not working
Inspiron 3671
Hello. I wanted to run a hardware diagnostic eSPA. I hit the F12 key over and over, but it did not bring up the diagnostic menu upon starting the computer. I checked to see if the F-Lock could toggle, and it does work. Any ideas as to how to fix this? I ran the keyboard troubleshooter, and no problems were present.

If the function keys are not working, the problem may be you have a function lock or F-Lock key that needs to be toggled. The F-Lock key is used to turn on or off the F keys ( F1 through F12 ) or secondary functions of the F keys. Some keyboards may label the F-Lock key as the Fn key

Thank you. I tried this but maybe because I have a desktop .. it didn't work. I had to toggle it by hitting the ESC key and the FN key at the same time to get F12 to work.

Thank you. On my keyboard, the ESC key has a picture of a lock on it with the letters "FN". I had to hit the ESC/FN key at the same time as the other FN key that is near the ALT key to toggle. After doing that I was able to use F12 successfully.
