Function Keys

I just purchased an Inspiron 3511 and would like to know if I cn change the way the function keys work.  For example I have to press on the fn key and F10 for the print screen to come up.  I would prefer to just have to press on the F10 key without the fn key.  Would probably prefer the kind of change for all of the function keys.  Is there a way to swap the functionality?

Update per Dell-Cares:

If you want to access the function key alternate functions directly without having to press the fn key and another key together, this can be done by pressing the Fn key and Esc together to enable the Function lock. This would behave as though the Fn key is pressed down all the time.

To reverse this setting, you can press the Fn key and Esc key together to turn it off.

I just purchased an Inspiron 15 3520 and would like to know if I can change the way the function keys work.  For eg, I have to press on the fn key and F10 for the print screen to come up.  I would prefer to just have to press on the F10 key without the fn key.  I tried to disable fn key in Bios setup but there is no option. I also tried pressing fn + esc keys but that is also not working. Kindly help.

Wow, this is hacky stuff to say the least.

Clear note to readers:

  • Push "fn+Esc" will switch the function key set, e.g., allows you increase/decrease volumen;
  • Push again fn+Esc will switch back (or forward if you wish) so that F5 means, for example, reload a page or document or whatever F5 is set to.
