G15 GPU Fan failure
Dell G15 5515 Ryzen Edition
Hello! I have a dell g15 5515 and recently the pc started booting up SupportAssist instead of opening and telling me that there was a video fan failure. I bought compressed air and blew it through the vents but it didn't do anything. I am using the pc right now although lightly and it seems not to have any problems. Can someone explain this please and how to fix it?

Hi @AyhemBMSW welcome to this free user-to-user Alienware laptop discussion forum.
POST (Power On Self Test) should be reporting GPU fan hardware problems. Dell SupportAssist Diagnostics (previously known as F12 ePSA Diagnostics) is embedded in the BIOS and performs a check of the hardware. The thermistor (temperature sensor) part of the fan assembly has seemingly failed, and the fix is to replace the fan assembly. If there is a Dell warranty, Dell assigned Contractor will replace and install replacement fan assembly.

Thank You! I didn't want this PC to have to be repaired since I only got it 4 months ago but if that's what its come to then I guess I just have to deal with it. I have a basic Dell warranty so I'm hoping that covers this since this wasn't an accidental damage problem. Extremely disappointed at Dell for this..

Hi @AyhemBMSW thank you for sharing update.
Your Dell first year basic warranty covers this issue.
Please visit your online Dell account to create Service Request so that Dell Support 'officially' knows that there is a problem to fix under warranty. When Dell Technical Support requests online session, allow them to use their diagnostic tools to fix software problems and/or instigate replacement of hardware.
