G7 Card Reader Not working sometimes
Dell G7 card reader quit working properly in Windows 10. If I boot the computer from a power off, it will recognize the card and all functions work (read/write), however, if I pull the card, it no longer recognizes the card reader.
I have to hard boot with a card in the reader to get it to recognize the sd card. Soft boot does not work.
Here is what I've done:
1. Every recommendation on the internet. (tried card on other devices, cleaned, drivers, uninstall, install etc)
2. Tried every recommendation on this board.
3. Updated drivers from Dell and Realtek (tried both new and old ones)
4. I have used a USB adaptor and it works fine.
5. Reset the BIOS.
6. Reinstalled Windows 10.
The weird part is it works if a card is in the slot on boot up. Once it's pulled, it no longer works. Before I pull the card, I check Device Manager and it shows up under Hard Drive with an old MS driver and the Realtek driver under Universal Serial Bus Controller. Once the card is pulled, that all goes away.

Yes! I've updated the computer with all recommended by Dell to include the BIOS and chipset driver.
It's strange the computer recognizes the reader on boot but not after the card is removed and replaced. Seems to me the software doesn't look for the reader once it's being used if I pull remove/replace the card (plug n play?). Once the card is removed and the reader is not visible on explorer, no other programs can see it either. Hard reboot and it's back.

Well the Dell community has failed at all turns. No one has been able to solve this issue. I continue to have the same problem and there seems to be zero effort to help solve this. I use the USB adaptor to access SD cards with no issue. The only time the card reader works is if I cold boot with a card in the slot. Works fine right up until the card is removed. It no longer shows up in device mgr and new drivers/chipset/bios changes that...
