Hard Drive

I can't boot up my laptop and was told the hard drive already corrupted. 

Replace the hard drive with 3rd party.

Later on, I tried to open the original hard drive using an adapter to recover important data for my Thesis.

But it was locked and required a 48-Digit Recovery Key, any advice?
