My 3510 hinges broke twice. Once in warrantee and once not. I read somewhere that some better hinges are available so I will find them, fix the 3510 up for my wife and continue to use my robust 5640. If anyone knows of better hinges let me know.
The problem with the 3510 is the gap between the screen and case catches things and snapes hinges. So I taped it open!
I don't think you will find better hinges for replacement. Most damages were from the plastics that secured the hinges assembly. The plastic materials on Inspiron 3000 series are not built with the best quality and they are not holding up well to anchor the hinges assembly.
You would hardly heard of broken hinges from XPS or Precision.
