Inspiron 13 5310, touchpad intermittent

I have a new Inspiron 13 5310 8GB laptop and noticed the touchpad sometimes stops working for no apparent reason. I don't run many application at once so not sure why? Yet if I plug in a mouse no problems. Any ideas how to fix? Cheers

Just to clarify:

This solution worked.

However, my device was showing 2 "HID Compliant Devices" options.

When I disabled one of them it disabled my bluetooth mouse.

So I tried disabling the next one and now both trackpad/touchpad and mouse are working fine.

This is just fyi.

Go to device manager, mice, and other pointing devices, HID Complaint mouse > Disable it.

I am also facing the same issue in 5310 i5 13-inch windows 11. Problem solved after disabling HID Complaint mouse.

I have the same model computer and the same problem. I've tried everything on the Dell website to fix it but nothing has worked so far. Next step is contacting Dell direct, they don't operate on weekends which is a real pain in the butt. Have you had any luck getting it fixed? Let me know if you have, otherwise I'll let you know how I go.

I use an external mouse so I didn't face this issue for the first 3 days however today I've been using the trackpad and I've noticed the constant lag every few seconds.  I tried disabling the HDI compliant but disabling both led to the external mouse not working so I enabled one which made the external mouse work and kept the other disabled. The lag is still there on the trackpad? What's the solution? The laptop is 4 days old, don't think this is a good sign DELL.

Hello DELL CARE, Yes I am looking for Technical Assistance.

I have just bought this Inspiron 13 5310 i7 11th gen version and after 1 week of use and constant updates from windows the Trackpad/Touchpad has started having issues.

To describe the problem, while typing a document or after a period of youtube browsing with an external mouse, I have to drag my fingers from the corners of the pad for it to activate. In case if i absent mindedly tap at the centre it doesnt respond and even behaves as if its off. I have been told that this is the palm rejection feature that you have included in the device.

If that is the case can you help me deactivate it because it is more of an inconvenience.

Looking forward to any solution you maybe able to provide.

Has anybody else faced this issue? I've faced it in the below instances

1 - plugged in and not plugged in

2 - GoogleSheets, Google Chrome, Notion (app on Windows)

The diagnostics test shows all is well with the hardware, so either this is a software issue or this laptop has some issues. Not impressed with DELL at the moment

Has anyone got luck with the problem?

I have replaced the dell touchpad 2 times now, through Dell. Still same issue. The person told me that touchpad is not freezing in bios. It freezes only while using OS. Means the issue is with the OS and not the hardware.

Dell is suggesting to reinstall win 11. I have not done that yet, as I am reluctant to spend time on it.

I will update here, when I do this and if it solves the issue.

Regards,

PA

Hello guys

I had faced similar problems in the past and with the help of Dell on-site warranty the Touchpad was replaced. This stopped the problem all together. Infact now it works better and has more precision than using a mouse.

While facing these issues I had tried many fixes that are widely available on the Internet (specifically Youtube) but non of them worked.

Hence the best solution is to contact Dell Remote assistance and work with them to fix it.

I had same problem on my dell inspiron 13 but the accepted solution didn't work for me.

I found out the 12C HID Device which is under Human interface Devices had an error. I fixed it by disabling and then enabling it back using an external mouse and it worked.
