There was more than one Inspiron with the "7420" designation. If you have the Inspiron 14R SE 7420, Dell drivers page says that you have a Realtek Memory Card Reader and they have a Windows 10 driver available to download.

Free tools like Speccy or Belarc Advisor may be able to identify it, as can various bootable Linux distributions.

Before installing drivers, you should install the Intel Chipset Driver and Intel Management Engine Interface Driver.

Install the Genesys driver. Or, let Windows use the generic driver, which probably will work fine.

Enough with the exclamation marks. We cannot know what you have if you don't tell us. Your first post did not state the full model name and you did not say that it is a new model.

All my advice is still valid. Install the Intel Chipset Driver and Intel Management Engine Interface Driver. Then use a tool, such as I mentioned, to identify the card reader.

You don't need to use SupportAssist. You can use Dell Update to find updates, or you can go to the Dell drivers page for your model.

I ran Speccy on my laptop so I could tell you where to find the information.

  1. Ensure that you installed the Intel Chipset Driver from the  Dell drivers page for your model.
  2. Install Speccy (or run the portable version of Speccy).
  3. Insert a memory card into the card reader. (The card reader may not identify unless there is a card inserted/mounted.)
  4. Launch Speccy with Administrator privileges (run as Administrator).
  5. Click on one of the headings in the left-hand column to see items in that category. Try "Storage" and "Peripherals".

On one of my laptops, I inserted an SD card. In Speccy under Peripherals it listed "SD" with Vendor JMCR, for JMicron (manufacturer of the card reader). In Speccy under Storage it listed "Flash drives" with an entry for JMCR SD SCSI Disk Device.

Try those categories, with a card inserted, and you should see enough information to identify the card reader maker. If the name is not immediately recognizable, Google what it lists.

  1. You did not do what I suggested
  2. From that image from what I can read, I'd say it is Genesys
