I think I have a workaround,

I noticed this happened after connecting my laptop to a monitor, and not before. Also happened the longer I was using the laptop that day....which led me to the conclusion....it seems to happen after waking up the monitor or the laptop from sleep mode.

My current workaround - Change "Turn off Display" & "Put the Computer to Sleep" to "Never" in Power Options > Edit Plan Settings.

3 days with no freezing, whereas it was freezing at least once a day before. Make sure to manually turn off your pc if you go for a longer break.

Let me know if it works!

Hi rui10,

Thanks for posting.  Apologies that your system is not working as expected.

Freezing issues can be difficult to troubleshoot and diagnose.  Please try running a systems diagnostics by pressing F12 at startup or by running Dell Support Assist.  Make a note of any error messages and contact tech support for further troubleshooting and possible resolution.

You can contact Tech Support at 1-800-624-9896  or 1-800-288-4410, or you can initiate a chat session http://dell.to/2v4snVm

Does it happen if you use Google Chrome?  Sometimes when my laptop starts to freeze, if I can close all the Chrome windows quick enough, the laptop goes back to normal.

If I wait too long, the laptop eventually goes sooo slow, I can't move the mouse.

Yesterday I was copying files in the dos window and when the laptop slowed down, the file list was being updated at about 2 characters per second.

I have the same issue. I'm curious to see if you're able to fix it the same way I've found. If your laptop "freezes", try plugging it in (if it's unplugged) or unplugging it (if it's plugged in). That usually gets my 7577 running again.

If it's the same issue/resolution, I'm wondering if we can get Dell to replace/fix our laptops. This is my 2nd 7577 doing the same exact thing.

I have same problem.

this start happened after I update my BIOS to version 1.4.2. (asked by dell update app).

the problem happened not only on windows, i use linux ubuntu LTS on other disk of the computer, but the problem still exist.

1 - 2 times a day of freeze.

still no try plug/unplug power. but hopefully found solution here.

I have tried to send support (twice) request via supportassist app, but no luck, no answer.

what a great notebook, with minim support :(

Hi,

Having the same problem after the latest update from Dell. The laptop freezes. I need to either put it in sleep mode (closing my laptop) or manually shut it down by holding the power button. It has happened a few times after the update. When it freezes, the sound still goes on but everything else freezes. I was watching a documentary in youtube earlier, everything was frozen but the audio.

This freeze is getting annoying. It's killing the purpose of this laptop being a gaming laptop. Every game freezes when there is some fast action.

I had the following problem: my Dell Inspiron 15 Gaming 7567 computer used to freeze at seemingly random moments. Definition of freezing for this case: I still see open applications, the desktop and everything, but the mouse cursor freezes up and normal operation of the computer becomes impossible. This used to happen like once or twice a day during a few months. Over time, I realized this mostly happened while the AC adaptor was connected. By chance, I found that the computer could be "unfrozen" by unplugging and replugging the AC adapter. Before finding that, you can imagine I was rebooting each time. But despite that band-aid measure, it was still a major pain in the neck. Yesterday, it happened like ten times over an hour. I decided to dig into this issue to find a permanent solution. Another lesser symptom that my computer was showing was an automatic switch-up, on some occasion, from the AC source to the battery, then back to AC without my asking and without apparent failure of the AC adapter itself. All the problems I have been having in the recent month (fuzzy sound, headphones not detected, Microsoft Picture Viewer failure, etc.) had something to do with conflicts between packaged Dell bloatware, updates of Dell bloatware, leftovers of bloatware removed by Dell, Dell drivers updates and effects of Windows 10 Updates on the aforementioned items. So a little voice in my head suggested me that the power issue might also be related to one of the above factors. I found a solution that worked magic for me. I'm not an IT expert, so it might, repeat, might be coincidental, but I'll gladly follow-up on my own post if the problem ever comes back. The solution below is quite easy and fully reversible. So feel free to try it for yourself and see if it works for you. Let me just point out that this solution does NOT apply to the frozen GRAY screen that some have reported, that's not the issue I have observed at all! So, here's the suspected culprit for my problem and its alleged solution. It seems that my Dell Inspiron came bundled with a bloatware called "Dell Power Management Lite". This is quite self-explanatory: a Power management application. You can find that bastage app by searching your computer for an application with that name. Open that app. Now look what you have under "Battery setting". If you see "Adaptive" (which seemed to be the default option for me), at any cost, please switch it to "Primarily AC use". For reference, I left the 'Advanced charge' thingy off as it was. That's it, that's all. The computer behavior went from 'dying patient' to 'dashing leopard' in a heartbeat. No more freeze-ups, no more random power mode
auto-switchups. New computer! Thanks again to Dell for being useless in helping. They point to a 102point freeze-up troubleshooting that ends with System restore or WIndows reinstall! Seriously? Chr*st on a frigging bike, I tell you!! I hope this message can prevent others from scratching their heads over this issue. And once again, if my problem comes back, I'll let y'all know ASAP and I'll apologize for any misleading. Cheers, friends.

Thnx your solution helped my issue on my G3 laptop

I am still having this issue, although my laptop was on "Primary AC use" all the while. Every time it freezes, I just connect/disconnect the AC adapter and it unfreezes for a little while. Funny thing is the laptop stops freezing temporarily(for a week or 2) after running the Pre-Boot Assessment by turning on the laptop with the Fn + Power button combination.
I just re run the assessment when my computer starts to lock up and it goes back to normal for a couple of weeks. I still don't know the root cause of this problem.

Oh my.  I tried to switch from the default, but it would not allow me to change to the AC.  I'm gonna keep trying.  Seems it worked for others.  Thanks.

I found this solutions on the Web and it worked for me :

" fix is done by right-clicking on the Start button, clicking "Control Panel", then "System..." then "Power Options" then when you see the "power plans", click "Change settings" for the power plan, then find the "Change advanced settings" link and a dialog will pop up with a tree: on the tree find "PCI Express", expand it so you can see the "plugged in" and "battery" options, click them both and choose "off". Apply the changes."
