Inspiron 16 Plus, broken hinge

Hi Alan,

I have an Inspiron 16 Plus. I'm having an issue with my monitor that appears to be a result of internal pressure from the hinge. I have included pictures for your review. When powered off, the pictures show that here is no external flaw or damage to the computer (front or back). When the monitor is powered on, it is possible to see the internal damage caused by the hinge on the left-lower side above the hinge.

My call to Dell customer service resulted in "accidental damage" status, which is upsetting since the computer never leaves my office. How could accidental damage occur from simply opening and closing the lid?

My warrantee expires in August. Is there a way this can be resolved in a fair way? I appreciate any help or assistance you can provide.

Best regards. JF
