Inspiron 5406 battery replacement
I need to change the battery on my Inspiron 5406 and I would like to replace the 3 cell 40 wh 11.4 volt battery with the 4 cell 53 wh 15.2 volt battery both indicated by the Dell 5406 manual.
I would like to make sure the laptop supports both voltages as this video also indicates for a Dell model lter. Does anyone know for sure that the Dell laptop supports both voltages?

That's what the manual states - though the spec sheet at dell.com mentions only the 3 cell option. On a system this new, you'll be limited to buying a battery from Dell - you'll need to call your local Dell office and ask about availability. In the US: 1-800-357-3355

The Dell. Service Manual 5406 shows the 53wh 15.2 battery installed in several pictures.

the specification sheet mentions the two opIons with 3-cell battery and 4-cell battery. Just check it out at Dell.com 5406 documentation

If that part exists, only Dell Spare Parts will have it.
Contact them.

I'm wondering if your tried this yet? Looks like a great upgrade for after my warranty expires.

Well, decided to try this anyway and got a genuine Dell 53wh battery as shown in the service manual, installed it in a few minutes and yes, it works perfectly, charges as usual from both the usb-c socket and the standard power socket, will see how much longer battery life I get as that was the only disappointing thing about the laptop,

Glad to see finally somebody trying this. I am also thinking of doing this upgrade as soon as my warranty expires. Have you noticed a battery life upgrade or is it wasteful?

Have just tried to carry out replacing the original 40Wh (JK6Y6) battery with a 53Wh (H5CKD) battery (not a Dell battery) and failed miserably!
Installed new battery, checking good connections, and tried to fire up! Nada, nothing! Something wrong, let's try putting the old battery back in! Yes, that's OK, everything is fine!
Back to reinstalling new battery, again checking connections good! ..... and same response - nada! Nothing!
Put original battery back in (despite depleted state) and everything back to normal!
Thinking, is this (H5CKD) battery a realistic replacement for my original battery (despite the original being 11.25 volts and the uprated one being 15 volts) , or do I have a defective battery?
Any input welcomed.

Answered my own question - it was a faulty battery made of Chinesium! Returned to seller and refund obtained!
Purchased new H5CKD battery from Dell, plugged in and all working perfectly!
So uprated battery works fine!

I replaced my 3cell 11.4v 40wh with original dell 4 cell 15.2v 53wh in my Dell 5406 2n1. I can confirm this works 100%. my decision was based on info i read in this forum and was helpful. Also the illustrations that was referenced in the service manual , it actually shows the 4 cell battery but does not make any reference to the 15.2v.

@ITtechnophobe Hi I'd like to upgrade the battery on my Inspiron 5406. My Laptop has the i5-1165G7 and no dedicated graphics card. I have a 40Wh battery. Do you confirm that the 53Wh battery work on the laptop? I'm a bit concerned about the voltage difference...

I asked this question on Google…. My Dell Inspiron 5406 2-in-1 has the 40w battery installed, can I replace with h5ckd 53w 4cell battery.
This from Google:
Yes, you can replace the 40W battery in a Dell Inspiron 5406 2-in-1 with a 53W H5CKD 4-cell battery. The H5CKD battery is compatible with the Dell Inspiron 5406 2-in-1 and other Dell Inspiron and Latitude models.
Ask the same question so that you are sure.
