Inspiron G3 15 3590, hinge broken

Hi, the back of my laptop below the monitor where the hinges are located are broken. Whenever close my laptop screen, the left hinge extends further out of the G3 black rectangle and when I open the laptop there's a bulge in the bottom screen frame where the hinge is located. Is there anyway I can fix this?

I have same problem, this is the second time that's broken, this should be the new replacement but the replacement doesn't resolve the hinge problem, after a few weeks it's broken again. I think this is a design flaw

This is the second time that I have a hinge problem of my G3 3590, this is not some accidental damage it's really a design flaw, even if Dell replaces it how many times the problem still occurs.

Count me in as another victim of the flawed hinge design. Received my laptop last fall, and I am bewildered it is already falling apart after gentle use. I've tried tape, epoxy, etc., but neither entirely fix the issue.

I am having the same issue, I purchased from Best Buy back in November, and it is already broken.  I just put in a request for a quote for the part and on site labor.

I have the exact same problem as the poster.

when I talked to Dell on April 2nd 2020 at 11:30ish (PDA) to a man named “Ahmed” who was working from home,

he said my 1-year coverage wouldn’t cover a “cosmetic” issue and that It isn’t a manufacturing problem because “it wouldn’t break on its own” and when I pointed out that there were tons of examples of the same problem with others on their website, he said that “anyone can go online and lie.”

I asked if I could speak to his manager (I know, I have never done this before), he told me that his manager was refusing to take the call and Ahmed said that I was “wasting my time.”

I’m very disappointed / anxious about the answers I received. I just bought this laptop a few months ago, I had to save up to afford it, I don’t have any money coming in due to the corona virus and I need this laptop for online classes.

Add me to the list. I have had this G3 for less than 2 months and the hinge casing is already cracked open.

I had issues with hinge since day one and now the customer support informed me that somehow this design flaw is not covered in the warrant. have no idea to what do know

I have the same issue. I saved my money for this expensive product and it is breaking from regular use. It's sad to hear so many people having terrible customer service regarding the problem with the hinge. This will be my last Dell product as well.

Like everyone else here, I am now having an issue with the left side of the hinge popping out whenever I close it. I am from the Philippines and I have no idea how to fix it. I tried to super glue the small part where it locks but to no avail. THIS IS DEFINITELY A DESIGN FLAW!

A lot of users seem to have the same issue of weak hinges. I had the same issue only BOTH hinges just snapped out of the frame along with the screws that were holding them in place, they had me send the laptop in and they should have received it today, I can let you know how it goes, I hope they don't blame me since I did nothing that could cause that kind of damage and looking on the net it seems I'm not alone.

I have the same problem with the hinge of my G3 3590 that has broken after ~7 months of normal usage. It recently started making plastic-on-plastic cracking sounds when opening and closing the lid before it broke about a week ago. I have the same bulge in the screen casing near the laptop hinge reported by other users. Before the hinge broke I was very happy with the product.

I've just gotten off a call with Dell tech support which was a positive experience, they are sending an engineer in the next few days. Hopefully this will be sorted quickly and with some more durable parts.

I also got the hinge problem, just paid £44 to send it in to Dell for diagnostics via UPS. I don't think we should pay for a design fault. When I raised the claim, the term customer fault was used. Though my G3 sits on a desk with no marks on it at all so how could it break by my fault.

Not at all happy so far.

Edit, after reading the answers here, I will be looking at small claims if it's not resolved quick and free.

I got all the time in the world....

we are having the exact same problem, a 6 month old laptop with the hinge cracked. It has been sitting on a table since day 1. Definitely a design flaw. Will try to contact Spain Dell customer support on Monday to see what they can do, although I am expecting a similar response to all of you here...

I'm also experiencing this problem. I bought this computer in March of 2020 and the hinge has already started showing signs of breaking, like popping when ever the screen is lifted. The bottom left side of the screen housing is also coming apart. I hardly open the screen since I have it hooked up to an external display and was very surprised/disappointed when the hinge started coming apart. I was not expecting to have to deal with this level of build quality when I bought this laptop.
