Intel Smart Sound Technology Intel SST OED issues with latest Driver update

Recently I updated my Dell Inspiron 5590 Laptop with the latest drivers from Dell using Dell update application. Since then my microphone stopped working. In Windows Settings > System > Sound > Input > Choose your input device it was observed that no input device was available.

Even If I were to attach an external USB headphone or a earphone/headphone via the 3.5 Audio jack the microphone would not work.

Further it was identified that the Dell Update was not starting up since one of the service was disabled.

Finally going to the Device Manager (devmgmt.msc) it was found that the "Intel Smart Sound Technology Intel SST OED" under System devices had error code 10. On doing a google search it was found that this is because of the issue with the driver. So I changed the driver of Intel Smart Sound Technology Intel SST OED to

Intel(R) Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) OED Version 10.25.3950.219[18-06-2020]

Please see the screen shot given below for more details on the driver selectedDell Laptop Issue with Intel Smart Sound Technology Intel SST OED driver Jul-2021.jpg

So it is clear that the latest driver of Intel Smart Sound Technology Intel SST OED has issues. These issues were caused when the latest Dell updates were pushed into the laptop. For this I have the following questions

1) When is dell coming out with the latest fixes for the driver version 10.25.4706.218?

2) The latest dell update disables the application dell update itself because of the Windows service not disabled. When will that fix be made available?

Same issue on my Alienware m16 R2, with Windows 11 Pro.   This is the second time this has happened.  The first time dell support remoted onto my computer and after about 2 hours they got it fixed.  I can't remember what they did to fix it though, sorry.

Ok, i had precisely the same issue.

I own a 5430

How i fixed it:

- Went to the drivers download page

https://www.dell.com/support/home/pt-pt/product-support/product/latitude-5430-laptop/drivers

- Access all the list of drivers

- Show all

- Select the Audio Driver Realtek, Next do download there is a arrow, i clicked and expand the tab

- Older Version

- Choose the previous one

https://www.dell.com/support/home/pt-pt/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=ttdh5&oscode=w2021&productcode=latitude-5430-laptop
