Keyboard issues

Opened my laptop after not being used for a couple of weeks and am unable to log in. Keyboard letters do not work but number keys do. I tried an external usb keyboard and same thing. It’s barely a year old and I’m irritated. Any help is appreciated! Is there a way to bypass the login?
