I don't understand which wire you are talking about, it seems my graphics card is embedded in the motherboard. I am attaching a photo of the motherboard so that you can tell me which wires I should check
Ahhh Stupid me. Turns out, when I assembled my laptop back, I didn't properly attach the video cable to my laptop display. After connecting it properly the laptop boots properly. But the white screen problem still persists. Do you know what may be causing this?
I know for sure that the rest of the laptop is working properly because I have a vnc server in my laptop that starts when the laptop boots up and i am able to use my phone as a screen for the desktop. But it would be great if this white screen issue is resolved
It could still be a cable issue, but we will need to isolate the LCD to confirm that. While the machine is off, press and hold the D key and power up the machine. If the LCD cycles through the colors, the LCD is fine.
I ran the lcd test but the screen was white as usual, but about 20-25 seconds after I started the lapto, it restarted with the white screen again.
I forgot to mention this before but when the screen is white, I could jerk the display by tilting it back and forth and it would display a single frame and freeze on it and then go white again after 2 seconds. So I did the lcd test again, this time jerking the screen. It wasn't much helpful but I saw a couple of frames with either green or blue( cyan color) screen and again it restarted after 20-25 seconds.
Could you please elaborate? I mean the led code issue was because of bad connection of display cable and it is resolved now. The white screen issue happened when the hinge got detached. How could a broken hinge lead to bad GPU?
I definitely feel that this is a display issue because I am able to connect my TV to the laptop using hdmi cable and the TV mirrors the display perfectly fine, so it most likely is an issue with either the laptop display or the display cable.
It could have if the cable shorted something out at the mainboard -- and given the high voltage connection to the b backlight, any path to ground where it shouldn't be can wreak all sorts of havoc.
If you haven't replaced the hinge and display cable and are planning a repair, those would be the first things to address. Then re-test the LCD, which would be next. If none of those solve the issue, the mainboard is at fault.

saberton,
The diag led represent a video card failure. Did you possibly knock a wire off the video card when opening the system?

Given the other error mentioned, plus this set of symptoms, the GPU is bad or headed that way. The mainboard will need replacement.
