Left touchpad button hard to press
Hi,
I have an Inspiron 5559 laptop and recently the left touchpad button became increasingly hard to press. It is visibly lifted (about 1mm) with respect to the right one, which works fine.
I guess there might be something underneath, so is there a way that I can clean it? Thanks.

Make sure the battery is ok and not swelling.

On many systems, it's a sign the battery is swelling, but this system doesn't have the battery under the touchpad.
You'll need to check inside the system to see what the problem is -- and possibly replace the touchpad.

I don't think so, the battery is located on the back of the laptop, very far from the touchpad.

Thanks, but do you think it is possible to clean the mousepad by taking the whole palmrest apart? That might be the easiest solution...

It really depends on what's wrong -- but it doesn't appear the touchpad assembly is designed to come apart from the palmrest assembly. Thoroughly review the service manual linked above before undertaking the job -- basically the entire system has to come apart to access the palmrest/touchpad assembly.

I have the same problem too on my 3000 series. Most answers I’ve gotten was removing the battery but my laptop battery is at the back too.
