Log On Question

I have a Dell Inspiron 5402 Laptop using Windows 10.  I have an inquiry that may seem odd.  I have been trying to track a Log On idiosyncrasy to determine if it’s normal. 

When I DO NOT have my power, adapter plugged in and close the lid for maybe over-night at the most, I seem to have to Log On frequently when opening the lid.  But, if I DO have the power adapter plugged in overnight and longer, the need to Log On after opening the lid is what I call a normal sequence in timing.

I know a Windows update, etc. could trigger a Log On, but why do I see the Log On screen more frequently when my laptop is not plugged in to the power adapter?
