Need help with Dell G3 15 system crash and screen distortion!
I have been facing a weird issue with my Dell G3 15 laptop. The screen will suddenly distort and make a loud white noise, usually when I pick up the laptop from my desk. However, it has also happened without moving the laptop. All of the keys and buttons on the laptop become unresponsive except for the power button. The only way to turn off the laptop is to long press the power button.
And recently due to this problem my SSD card was damaged and got to replace it with a new one for about 150$. A friend of mine also have a Dell G3 and the same distortion issue were faced by him too.
⚠ I have attached a picture of the issue for reference. I would appreciate it if someone from Dell could look into this issue.

Experiencing system crashes and screen distortion on a Dell G3 15 laptop can be caused by various factors, ranging from software issues to hardware problems. Below are some common troubleshooting steps to help you diagnose and resolve the problem:
1. **Check for Software Issues**:
- Make sure your operating system and drivers are up to date. Check Dell's support website for the latest updates for your specific laptop model.
- Run a complete malware and virus scan to rule out any potential software-related issues.
- Check the Event Viewer on your laptop (type "Event Viewer" in the Start menu search bar) for any error messages or critical events that might give clues about the cause of the crashes.
2. **Check for Overheating**:
- Overheating can cause system instability and screen distortions. Ensure that the laptop's cooling system is working correctly and that the vents are clean from dust and debris.
- Consider using a laptop cooling pad to improve airflow and reduce heat buildup.
3. **Test the Laptop with External Display**:
- Connect your Dell G3 15 laptop to an external monitor or TV using HDMI or DisplayPort. If the screen distortion is not present on the external display, it could indicate an issue with the laptop's internal display or graphics hardware.
4. **Run Hardware Diagnostics**:
- Dell laptops usually come with built-in hardware diagnostic tools. Restart your laptop and press the appropriate key (usually F12) during boot to access the diagnostic menu. Run a thorough diagnostic test to check for any hardware failures.
5. **Update Graphics Drivers**:
- Screen distortions can be caused by outdated or corrupt graphics drivers. Visit Dell's support website and update your graphics drivers to the latest version.
6. **Check RAM and Hard Drive**:
- Faulty RAM or a failing hard drive can cause crashes and distortions. Run a memory diagnostic test to check for any RAM issues.
- Use built-in Windows tools or third-party software to check the health and status of your laptop's hard drive.
7. **Factory Reset**:
- If you've tried all the above steps and the issues persist, you may consider performing a factory reset to revert your laptop to its original settings. Remember to back up your important data before doing this.
8. **Contact Dell Support**:
- If the problems continue after trying all these steps, it's best to contact Dell's customer support or visit an authorized service center. They can provide further assistance and possibly repair any hardware issues.
Remember that if your Dell G3 15 laptop is still under warranty, reaching out to Dell support is highly recommended as they can provide specific guidance and potential solutions for your laptop model.
