To get this information you need to log on to  Dell Support, enter your model number, and most importantly Enter your Service Tag Number.

That will open all the hardware information on your Particular notebook, You should download and read your Service Manual there you will find out how to open your notebook

There should be a section on upgrading RAM

Also, you can use Crucial website to find out what RAM is compatible

What you need to know it that if your upgrading from 8 and adding another 8 you must at a minimum match the voltages and timings. The better you match to what you currently have, the better chance of having the upgrade successful.
