No supported AlienFX devices were detected

Hi everyone! I have bought a G15 5515 recently and facing "common" (at least it's my understanding after doing a research) issue appearing in all Dell products with Alienware features. The point is I can't get rid of this, no matter what I do. Tried a number of solutions available on Dell Support or Reddit and similar pages, i.e. like this one:

https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-uk/000141237/alienware-fx-light-issues?lwp=rt

however the problem still appears. After 5 attempts of re-installing Alienware software with no positive effect I decided to do a factory reset of the device. All Dell and Windows updates installed but I still can't manage my laptop through ACC.

Every time after restart, the first start-up of application trigger a Windows notification that ACC service is starting but nothing happens. I receive another notification from ACC that no supported devices were detected or I don't receive anything, app is just stuck on service loading (dots in a circle on the middle) forever. The app itself is not frozen, I can hit the X, but second launch ends up with notification about no supported devices. It's endless.

Did, someone of you, manage to break this loop? Or just know how to solve this? Any suggestions?

Regards,

Marcin

Change the Start Up Type of AWCCService to Automatic

The AWCC might stop working if it is not configured to startup automatically, leading to delay responses from the AWCC. In this case, setting the start-up type of AWCCService to Automatic may solve the trouble .

  1. Exit the Alienware Command Center (if possible) and right-click on the Taskbar of your system, and in the resulting menu, click on Task Manager
  2. In the processes tab, make sure no Command Center process (you might see Alienware Command Center and AWCCService processes) is running by right-clicking it and then clicking on End Task.
  3. Then navigate to the Services tab and near the bottom of the window, click on Open Services
  4. Now, in the Services window, right-click on AWCCService, and in the menu, click on Properties
  5. Then, open the drop-down of the Start-Up type and change it to Automatic
  6. Now, click on the Apply and OK button and then restart your system.
  7. Upon restart, check if your system is clear of the error.

Apologize, I got myself involved in discussion with Dell Support, I forgot to check the topic. Thank you for the answer!

Yes I went through the same procedure you pasted. I tried everything that is available here on dell.com, I think so.

I tried uninstall of AWCC and its components through Revo Uninstaller but did not help. Also tried to install AWCC from Microsoft Store like on the link below. It looked very interesting cause it concerns the same notebook series, however it did not solve the problem. I also upgraded to W11 and then performed a factory reset but, still, with no effect.

https://www.dell.com/community/Inspiron/G5-15-5500-Alienware-Command-Center-problems/td-p/7689657

I started to wonder whether my laptop has functionality of AWCC. It should, if not why would they pre-install it and add it to "urgent" software for my notebook in support page.

I know the G-series lacks of some features like overclocking but as far as I know there should exist keyboard backlight settings and sound settings. I can manage sound through AWCC, however keyboard is not visible at all. I doublechecked the datasheet and it clearly states that G15 5515 has a RGB keyboard.

I feel kind of lost right now. Dell-Cares ask me to give a try for another type of reinstallation, this time using powershell or just to do a clean install of Windows. Maybe it's worth to try but I have strange feeling I'm doing the same all way round.

Has the RGB lighting ever worked?  What you've copied from the manual lists the three possible keyboards -- non-backlit, monochrome backlit and RGB backlit.  It's not necessarily true that your specific system has the  third option.

Have you looked up the specifications of your unit with dell.com/support to verify that it has the RGB keyboard option?  The vast majority of these I've seen have only the monochrome backlight - only the top-end configurations included the RGB option.

I'm having the same issue on my Dell G5 5515 Ryzen edition, and I want to make the fan quiter but no Quiet profile is showing and the PC is not detected in Alienware Command Center.

Frustrating, the fan noise is very high and I want to get it quieter.

Hope someone helps.

It's only certain features that'll utilise the AlienFX functionality and it depends what country/market/specs you've chosen for your laptop as to whether these features are present. My G5 SE 5505 came with a back-lit keyboard but its NOT an RGB one here in the UK (and even outside the UK there were choices in some markets as to whether you had an RGB or regular (white) back-lit keyboard) so this feature isn't used for controlling that here.

I too am struggling with this as of today. No hardware changes made, no settings revised, no updates installed before it stopped working randomly. I have attempted clean boot and Alienware driver updates to no avail. It is as if Alienware decided not to work with my PC anymore with no known user-end cause.
