If you haven't removed the failing drive from the system, yes -- it can cause the system to hang up even when you think you're using just the SSD.

If there were programs installed to the hard drive, it could also be that something is trying to load from the hard drive and cannot because of its impending failure.

yeah, i havent removed the failing drive from the laptop as im not familiar with opening and removing parts from laptops... i plan on bringing it to a service center in a few months to have the drive replaced...

my OS was installed on my SSD drive; i used the non-SSD (failed) drive mostly for steam games and for downloading stuff from the internet. im afraid to try and reformat it again with the failed drive still attached so i guess im gonna wait till its replaced...

i did notice my computer hanging sometimes; im hoping its due to the drive failure of the other drive and not another sign that my SSD drive is also failing hahaha
