Processor Upgrade!
I have a Inspiron 17 5767 Laptop. It currently has an Intel Core i5 (7th Gen) Processor. I would like to upgrade to an Intel i7 Processor. Is that possible? When I bought the laptop, I didn't think that going to an i5 would be so slow. I have a Windows 7 desktop with an Intel i7 (Unsure of Gen. I got it back in 2009/2010) and that desktop loads faster than what the new laptop does! I believe its the processor. It's been this way since I bought it. I don't think the Hard Drive has anything to do with it but it is 1TB.

Thank You, helps a lot. I am definitely keeping the DVD Drive though, use that a lot.

The CPU is soldered to the system board, so an upgrade means replacing the entire system board. The cost for this will be upward of $300, plus any other hardware required (if you've now Intel video, and want AMD, you'll need to add a new heatsink and a new power adapter to the total, which will likely push the cost upward of $400.
Unless you're absolutely certain the CPU is running flat-out and an i7 would help, that's a steep cost for a system that's as old as this one.
If you're running a spinning hard drive, replacing that with a solid state drive will do far more for performance than replacing the system board will.

Thank you! I was afraid that's what it would be. That's disappointing, this is my first laptop. I normally do desktops (easier to upgrade). I am running a rotating hard drive. What SSD's could I put into this? Could I just replace the SSD and no other component?

You'll need a standard 2.5" SATA SSD. There's only one internal 2.5" bay, so the hard drive will be replaced.
It may be possible to move the hard drive to a caddy and replace the optical drive, assuming you can find a third-party caddy and don't need the DVD drive.
