RAM DAMAGED ! A Big ? On the Quality
Hi , I've been using my inspiron for a while now, but recently it started freezing and hung up few times right after the boot. And then I started facing Blue screen of death all of a sudden and ended getting stuck in the loop. So took it to the service center , where they found out the issue in the ram that was damaged from within (that little black mark on the corner). Check the pictures for reference and please explain how it happened and provide me with a solution . Is this the quality of product that Dell offers? Time to think.

It looks like damage from some liquid spill -- the pins have corroded.

Looks like one of the pins -carrying power- wasn't making a good contact and built up resistance, causing it to arc. You can try cleaning the contact with rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab and see if it becomes operational again. I would also run a extended memory test afterwards as well to make sure that your RAM is completely operational.

Yeah did that and its working fine now. Not sure how long it will last. Didn't run any memory tests though. But how is it that one of the pins wasn't making good contacts as it was never opened or repaired in first place? Is it a manufacturing thing? Any further suggestions are appreciated. Thankyou

It's possible that the contact on the memory module was dirty during assembly, or the pins in the DIMM slot could have been dirty as well. One or more pins could have been slightly bent during assembly and were not making a firm connection. Who knows?
Definitely run a check on the memory. It will take some time, so it's best to do it while you're sleeping or when you won't be using the computer for several hours. Otherwise, you may continue to encounter problems due to potentially faulty RAM. You're probably OK if everything appears to be working fine now, but check anyway for peace of mind.

Welcome to the Dell Community @shriharshsistla
Has anyone taken into consideration that it could have been a defective memory card from the manufacturer???
Best regards,
U2

Will Run a memory test as told. But should I claim it with the dell since its a manufacturing assembly issue?

No since it's not under warranty am not sure on how to claim it with them.
